Topical Times Coloured Photographs, Scottish and English. The above pictures are hand-painted footballers of the day, there are three sets on show. The English small set with names in a box on the bottom! (These are ultra rare) The larger shown are two sets; one is English and the other a much more rarer set of Scottish. (The Scottish usually demands around three times that of the English set, approx £15-£40 each).
The sets are as follows: Smaller set RARE x 6: Dixie W.R. Dean (Everton), Hugh Gallacher (Newcastle United), James Gibson (Aston Villa), Joseph H. Hulme (Arsenal), Alec Jackson (Huddersfield Town), and James Nelson (Cardiff City) Free with issue shown 463 September 29th 1928. These were 190 x 125mm in size, and only these 6 were known, these proved by far the hardest to obtain, and the purchase price did show this, approxiamately £40 each. A1 Size English set x 8: J. Allen (Aston villa), Free with issue 776 September 29th 1934. A. Beasley (Arsenal), E. Catlin (Sheffield Wednesday), Free with issue 775 September 22nd 1934. W. Evans (Tottenham Hotspur), B. Nieuwenhuya (Liverpool), S. Smith (Leicester), F. Tilson (Manchester City), K. Willingham (Huddersfield Town).
